Design of the photographic book Il Bel Paese by Stefano De Luigi
Il Bel Paese is a journey along the 4,365 km of the Italian coast that gives us an unprecedented image of Italy and the contradictions that inhabit it.
Through a lexicon that insists on the intrinsic relationship between photography and memory, places become a sort of latent image, similar to the one that remains imprinted on sensitive photographic material, in that unique moment, before being revealed by development, just like a substrate of memory.
The book, like the photographic project it talks about, was thought in negative. The paper of the pages is black paste and the two-tone printing is made with silver and titanium, giving an appearance similar to that of an old photographic plate. Everything is set up with a Bodonian binding and a hard cover, on a black support and printed in silver tones.
